About Moeciu de Sus

The village of Moeciu de Sus is situated in Brasov county, in a beautiful mountain area at the edge of the Bucegi National Park. Its settlement, the touristic areas that surround it, the raw nature and the respect of the locals for traditions make it an ideal place for rural and ecological tourism.

Due to the abundance of mountains, woods and hills, the village offers plenty of possibilities for hiking and trekking trips, daily walks, horse or pony riding, watching animals in the wild and practicing mountain biking.

In the village there are rental centers for bicycles, ATVs, ponies and horses. It is also possible to hire guided tours or undertake your own daytrips from Moeciu to Dracula´s Castle (Bran), Rasnov, Brasov, Sighisoara, Sinaia and Sibiu. In winter, there are various slopes in the area that offer skiing and snowboarding facilities: Cheile Gradistei (5km), Poarta (12km), Poiana Brasov (30km).

The altitude of the village is 1100 m and it has approximately 1000 inhabitants. Moeciu de Sus scatters over three mountain valleys and as there is no road crossing over the mountains from the village, there are many hiking trails starting from various points in the village.

The main activity of the inhabitants, for centuries, has been animal breeding. This is why the villagers have developed a very strong tradition in preparing different types of cheeses, which are well appreciated all over the country.

The village has several restaurants, bars and local supermakets, from where one can buy the basics.

Bucharest is located 180 km to the village. Moeciu de Sus is linked to Brasov by bus, but the best way of getting here is by car.

The life in the archaic villages, the old crafts, the delicious meals... everything makes for an unforgettable experience in one of the most beautiful places in Romania!
